Shadow was standing by the railing on the porch of his penthouse apartment sipping coffee as he watched the sun rise over the buildings. His sweet moment was soon interrupted, though, by a loud knock at his door.
"Goood morning Shads! What's up?" Shadow had not been expecting to see Sonic so early in the morning and he was not particularly happy about it. He furrowed his brow with slight aggravation.
"What do you want Faker?" He growled at Sonic hating the fact that he had interrupted his morning.
"Mind if I come in?" And with that Sonic walked

"Um Aren't we supposed to be fighting?"
Sonic glanced briefly over his shoulder at the darker hedgehog before looking back into the water he was dipping his toes in. "Time out."
The other remained silent at these words. Sonic couldn't help but steal another glance, glad that his companion was staring in the other direction.
He'd thought Shadow had died during their battle against the Final Hazard. He'd seen him fall to Earth with his own eyes. Yet here the black and red hedgehog was, fully alive and in one piece. But
"You really can't remember anything?"
Shadow gently shook his head, still staring into space. "All I can remem

Only these four words can hold so much meaning and be pointless at the same time. Only in fairytales do stories actually have a happy ending. No suffering. No pain. No loss. Reality isn't quite as sugarcoated. Things change. People die. Hearts break. And "once upon a time" is something only ignorant adults and young children believe in.
But, every once and a while, stories do have happy endings. The dragon is slain, the evil sorcerer destroyed, and the Castle of Night is annihilated. The kingdom rejoices, children dance, and friendship is proven, once again, to shine bright even in the face of darkness.

This was stupid.
There was no way Shadow was getting into that lake. Sonic could coo and cajole all he liked, Shadow was not getting in.
Somehow Sonic had talked him into a race, though Shadow couldn't remember for the life of him how. Hours latter, they were still at it, legs pounding in the steaming sunlight. Shadow's mood, cocky and energized at the start, soured quickly when he had to be the first to call off, stumbling to the sand with his stomach in his throat, begging relief.
Sonic had jogged back to him panting in the heat, before pressing his finger to his lips in an enigmatic smile and claiming to know "this totally cool place".

In another place, once upon a time, sat two hedgehogs on a sturdy tree branch. This branch was like no other, it was wide enough to let these two hedgehogs sit back-to-back, and it hung right above the sparkling water. Once upon a time. Heh. For what? There are times long passed when many things used to happen. When enemies were friends, when one loves what that one fears later, many things...
One of the hedgehogs lowered his bare feet into the cool water, it had a light current, and a few koi. He smiled as the koi lightly kissed the soles of his feet and toes. It was relaxing, having your feet in th
It was a hot day, just the kind Shadow despised most. The sun was getting in his eyes, it was boiling hot out, and there wasn't a cloud in sight. Yep, Shadow knew that today was going to be a bad day.
"SHAAAAAAAAAADOWWWWWW!" a voice called out from afar. Shadow instantly froze up.
"Oh no..." he groaned. Just then, Sonic tackled his companion and they both slammed into the ground. Sonic was laughing uncontrollably from the fall, Shadow was glaring at his young friend.
"Hey...would you be so kind as to GET OFF OF ME, SONIC?!" Shadow yelled as he threw the blue hedgehog aside. Sonic quickly rose back to his feet and said, "Awwww don't be a do

"Hey, get off me!" yelled an aggravated black and red hedgehog. Said hedgehog was currently being attacked by the splashes of water from his lover, Sonic the Hedgehog. I gave him a hard look that would have made older men pee their pants, but of coarse, this was Sonic. He knew him too well.
"Awww Shadz, you're no fun!" complained the younger of the two. Giving an exaggerated throw of his slim arms in the air as empathies on his frustration. All the while keeping that cocky grin on his face, one more thing that got on my nerves.
"Aren't you afraid of water?" I said shaking my quills dry as much as I could, gi
Water slowly rushed along with small little fish swimming beneath the shining blue colour of the water. Their small little orange bodies seemed to look amazing underneath the tranquil feel of the flowing river- silently, a black hedgehog looked down to the fish with pondering eyes as his thoughts rushed quietly through his head. His shining red eyes stared to one fish in particular and they followed it slowly through the lake until the sight was stopped by a shining red shoe. Shadow looked up with confusion and looked to the blue hedgehog standing in front of him with a small smile upon his face; he looked down to the pondering hedgehog and a
"...You hate water."
"Yeeeep."
Sonic's answer was innocent enough. Shadow believed it was the fact the blue hero sat so casually on a tree branch surrounded by nothing but the very substance that puzzled him so. He kept his distance to stay on dry land just shy of where the pool began, studying his rival with a face as stoic as a rock. Sonic paid him no further attention, smiling lazily while his feet created mini whirlpools.
"...You hate water," Shadow repeated in disbelief, unconsciously prodding for an explanation. Sonic remained focused on his toes, but even from the side Shadow couldn't miss the pearly whites appearing in a grin.
